Eugene V. Smith

On Feb 12, 2016, surrounded by the loving and compassionate caregivers at Sacred Heart Home in Hyattsville, MD, Eugene peacefully left this world and moved on to his Eternal reward. After raising seven children, a Navy career, and a second career working for Southern Railway, Gene enjoyed a happy retirement in Big Pine Key, Florida, where he leaves behind many good friends. He is survived by his seven children: Kathleen (Dirk) Faas, Linda (Bink) Finamore, Carol O’Shaughnessy, Gene (Mary) Smith, Theresa (Charles) Walker, Brenda (Dave) Oliver, and Karan Smith, as well as his former wife Eleanor, his sister Ronnie Smith, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a very large extended family. Gene was a devoted family man, and a devout Catholic, who quietly modeled a life of generosity and faith to his family and to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Eugene's name to Sacred Heart Home in Hyattsville, MD.
