Dick passed away on February 11, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marge; his son, Rick; his brothers Ken Fisher, Jr., and Jim Fisher; and many cousins and nieces along with many friends. Dick was born on June 20, 1938, in Washington, D.C. He grew up in Takoma Park, MD. He graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1956. He was very active in the Takoma Park Boy’s Club where he played baseball and was a very talented pitcher. He even considered playing pro baseball until he injured his thumb. Dick served in the Marine Corps as a reservist from 1962 to 1968. Dick started his business career working for Sears in the auto department. He then continued his career as an Allstate agent. He built up his Allstate book of business before he sold it and retired in 2010 after working for Allstate for 46 years. Dick’s greatest qualities were his intelligence, humor, and friendliness. Dick loved restoring old cars. He also was a jack of all trades--working with electricity, plumbing, masonry, and carpentry. He was an avid Redskins fan and also enjoyed watching Maryland University basketball and football. Dick was an avid, excellent golfer. His dream was to see a newspaper headline that read “Dick Fisher wins PGA tournament.” He also loved to go fishing. Dick and Marge loved traveling to their cabin in Santee, SC, where they played golf, fished, and went shopping at the mall. Dick loved spending the winters at his house in Naples, FL, and spending time with his brother, Dave, and his family who lived nearby. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth F. and Stella E. Fisher, and his brother, David E. Fisher. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J Fox Parkinson's Foundation (see link below).
