Cletus E. Mehringer

Clete was born February 10, 1948 to Frances & Alphonse Mehringer in Jasper, IN. He was married to his wife, the love of his life and best friend, Cheryl Nooney Mehringer on May 26, 1991. He was a loving father to Stacy Bass (husband Darric) and Michael Mehringer (wife Jane). He was also a proud grandfather of Emeline & Clara Smith, Dylan & Aaron Bass, and Cole & Reid Mehringer. Clete is also survived by two brothers Arnold Mehringer (wife Lucille) and Stanley Jochum (wife Gayle) both of Jasper, IN. Clete also had several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Clete was born in Jasper, Indiana and raised in St. Henry, Indiana where he attended St. Henry grade school. He was a 1966 graduate of Holland High School and went on to receive his B.A. degree in Business Administration from Kentucky Weslyn in 1970.    Clete began his career in the education field in 1974 at Lincoln Technical Institute in Union, New Jersey. Then being promoted in 1975, he became the Director of Admissions in Washington, D.C. Clete then became an employee of TESST College for nearly twenty-five years where he served as manager of the Continuing Education Program. He also served as director of the Alexandria, Virginia campus. He was an elected board member of the Virginia Association of Private Schools where he served as President and Vice President. He was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Virginia Department of Education. He was also Vice President of Professional Services at ACT College. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Capitol College.     Clete was an avid basketball fan, particularly the Indiana Hoosiers. Clete had a passion for music. He not only attended hundreds of concerts but also had a huge collection of CDs and albums. He was a very happy person and always enjoyed making people laugh with his unique sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimers Association 1850 York Rd., Suite D, Timonium, MD  21093.
