Roswitha Siegrun Ingeborg was born on July 19, 1947 – two years after World War II had ended. Her birthplace was Amberg, a small medieval town in Bavaria. Roswitha would say that she had a nice and untroubled childhood compared to many other German children of her generation, as the town had survived the war literally unscathed. Her parents were refugees from Silesia. At the age of 16 Roswitha moved to the city of Nuremberg where she took up an apprenticeship in the book and publishing trade. There she met her first husband Manfred Hemmersdorfer and they had their son Michael, who currently lives in London with his wife Silvia. Soon they would move to Aschaffenburg in Lower Franconia, where Roswitha continued to live when her marriage broke up after 18 years. In 2001 she moved to Maryland and married Elmer Jaindl. Roswitha and Elmer lived in Bowie, Maryland. Her livelong passions were books, flowers and antiques. Roswitha also enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbours, and would love vivid discussions about politics and fashion. Roswitha is survived by her husband Elmer, her son Michael Hemmersdorfer and his wife Silvia Hernandez Reyes, her stepson Alan Jaindl and her sister-in-law, Irene Adams. She was predeceased by her parents Heinz and Hilde Skiebe, and her sister Gudrun (Bonnie).
