Janet Sandoval (Helenius) passed away on December 28, 2015 at home in Colorado Springs with her family by her side. Janet was born in New York but spent her childhood years growing up in Bowie, Maryland. She was surrounded by friends growing up and loved spending time at the beach, reading and relaxing with a good movie. Janet graduated from Bowie High School in 1979 then continued into a carrier of administrative and book keeping, which she was proficient. It was at work she met Juan Pablo and got married in the mid 80’s. They proceeded to raise a family of three beautiful children. In 2005, Janet miraculously survived a brain aneurysm though complications left her a paraplegic. Her strong spirit and positive attitude gave her the strength to fight on. She always fought to be independent despite her hardships. She always continued to take care of her family. She even fought to get her driver’s license again so she could continue her normal routine and be able to take care of herself so others wouldn't have to. She thought of one day returning to Maryland. Janet was a beautiful, fun loving, kind soul and always put others before herself. She finally succumbed to the complications of her paralysis. She was called home after fifty five years. Janet will be forever missed and she holds a place in our hearts. She is survived by husband Juan Pablo, sons Christopher Alejandro and Paul Nicolas, daughter Jessica Nicole, brother Michael Helenius, as well as numerous family and friends. A memorial gathering will be held for friends and family Saturday, January 30, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy, Bowie Maryland, 20715.
