Michael F. ("Mike") Smigielski, 58, of Boiling Spring Lakes passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. Mike was born May 17, 1957, in Alexandria, Virginia, the son of Frank and Regina Smigielski. Mike was an ASE Master Mechanic and owned and operated Capital Automotive on Long Beach Road. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. There seemingly wasn't anything that he couldn't build or fix. Mike had a passion for racing and was a master mechanic for several top fuel and alcohol funny car teams. He loved spending time with family and enjoying holiday times with them. Mike enjoyed his time riding four-wheelers with his grandson. He enjoyed many deep and enjoyable friendships and will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Barbara Martoncik. Surviving are his wife, Patty Smigielski of the home; one daughter, Christy Webber and husband Dave of Queenstown, Maryland; a granddaughter, Carly Thornton; a grandson, Camron Webber; five sisters, Susan Curran, Mary Funk, Patty Veri, Margaret Smigielski and Theresa McGinnis; a sister-in-law, Peggy Nichols and husband Mike; and several cherished nieces and nephews. The family will have visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, in the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel. Christmas and Halloween were some of Mike's favorite times; he would find it funny that his visitation was being held on this day. Please help to celebrate Mike's life and humor by dressing in costume if you would like. Services and burial will be held in Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike's name may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
