John E. McKenna

John E. (Jack) McKenna (age 96) He died peacefully on October 1, 2015. Survived by Eileen (Lyn) Sutherland McKenna, beautiful wife of 65 years; father of Peter (Cathy), Bob, Anne Barnes (Brian, dec'd), Paul (MaryAnn), Marie Jones (Walt), Jimmy (dec'd), and Patti Cole (Mel). Grandfather of: James, Kristen and Debbie; Janet and Joe; Alison, Danny and Betsy; Mariessa; Sean, Shannon and Megan; and Ronan; and great-grandchildren: Austin, Autumn and Liam. Born in Brooklyn NY, he grew up an avid Dodgers fan. Graduate of Brooklyn Tech HS, BS & MBA from NYU evening school while working at Brooklyn Navy Yard. Continued his career in Annapolis (MEL),DC (Main Navy), and Crystal City (NAVSEA), and with EG&G. Resident of Bowie, MD 1965-2013 and then Riderwood Village. WW II army veteran. Actively enjoyed 30 years of retirement; traveling and square-dancing with Lyn, and recently playing bridge. Past Pres. of Bowie-Crofton Garden Club and Toastmasters, volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Nat'l Arboretum and others for many years. Memorial Mass at St. Pius X, Bowie MD on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 10:30am. Private interment. For memorial donations, please consider giving to The ARC, Prince George's County.
