Sean Edgar Davis June 11, 1974 - August 14, 2015 Sean was born in Baltimore and spent his childhood in Woodlawn, Maryland with his parents, Joyce (currently of Berlin, Maryland) and Glenn (deceased). Other family members include aunts and cousins in Maryland and Florida. Sean discovered his passion and talent for the trombone in elementary school and continued to play in school bands and theater productions throughout high school. When he wasn't playing in the band, he was demonstrating his skills and providing his expertise to the school audio visual team. Throughout high school, Sean was employed at the local Super Fresh Grocery Store and, leveraging his knowledge and ambition with his I can do this' (and often his I can do this better') attitude, he advanced quickly from bag boy to cashier to head of various departments and finally to head of customer service. After high school, he continued working at Super Fresh while putting himself through college. Sean began his engineering studies at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County and completed both his bachelors and masters degrees at UMBC before following his mentor to Michigan State to complete his Ph.D. in Engineering. ? Sean followed a wide range of professional sports (he was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens), and often took part in amateur sports, where his participation resulted in a broken nose (misjudged a softball coming his direction), two broken hands (ice skating isn't as easy as they make it seem) and chronic ankle troubles which began when he ran alongside his god-daughter, Ashley, while she learned to ride a bicycle. After attaining his doctorate degree, Sean spent 2 years as a professor at Michigan State University before journeying in 2007 to El Segundo, California to pursue his career as a thermal engineer. He was an employee at Aerospace Corporation for 5 years. In 2012, Sean migrated back across the US to return to his native Maryland and begin the next phase of his career at Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies, Inc. Sean resumed trombone-playing with the El Segundo Concert Band while he lived in California and brought his band interests back home to Maryland, where he continued to play with the Green Belt Concert Band. At SGT, Sean quickly became passionate about the work he performed and enthusiastic about his many accomplishments. Seans large circle of friends and his diverse range of hobbies and interests is a testament to his well-rounded character. Sean also had eclectic tastes in music, books and wines, as evidenced by his large collections of each. There wasn't much that Sean didn't know about or get involved in. Family members include cousins Tom Martin (Ocala, FL), Dave Tanen (Bayonet Point, FL), Greg Spivey (Port Richey, FL), Jessica Bachelor (Winter Park FL), Kelly Casswell (Baltimore, MD), Kat Boren (York, PA) and Stacy Casswell (Pasadena, MD) and aunts Nancy Decker, Bonny Carlson and JoAnn Casswell.
