Tuesday, August 11th Bill, the most amazing husband, dad, and friend lost his battle with PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy). He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Margaret, daughters Jenny, Becky and husband Ronnie, and son Nick. Bill was born in Washington DC on June 11, 1953. The second of four children to the late Walter and Edna Klimczak. He grew up in District Heights and graduated from Bishop McNamara High School in 1971. Bill then went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech. He received a Masters degree in Electrophysics from George Washington University and continued to practice in the industry, mainly working on space antennae, until his retirement in 2008. Bill had a charming personality, that although he may have seemed quiet, always brought warmth and good humor to every situation. He told many fond stories about fun times with his siblings on his mother's family's farm and his adventures during his "little Billy" days. Bill was also an avid sports fan, with his Virginia Tech Hokies always remaining as his top team. He always said "Once a Hokie, always a Hokie" and was proud that one of his children could share that passion with him. He enjoyed playing soccer at Bishop McNamara and rugby in his college years. He was also a Washington Redskins fan, regardless of how the season progressed. Bill loved working in his yard, and planted a garden every season with the most amazing tomatoes. He was always proud of his three children. One of the last times he was able to walk, he walked his daughter Becky down the aisle and danced with her at her wedding. He accepted his disease with faith and courage. "It is what it is" was his motto throughout the tough years following his diagnosis. His family will be celebrating Bill's life Monday August 17 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Bowie at 10:30am. A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday August 16 at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to CurePSP.org in Bill's name, so that a cure can be found.
