Born in San Antonio, Texas on December 14, 1949, LaVerne McAllister Parker went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2015. LaVerne departed us and entered into rest during an unexpected admission to the ICU at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. She is survived by her mother Bessie Madden, daughter Judge Tracey Parker-Warren, Patricia Haynesworth who she loved and adored as a daughter, son-in-law, siblings, and many other family members and friends. LaVerne graduated from The Immaculate Conception High School in Augusta, Georgia and, at the age of 16, she matriculated at Morgan State University where she earned her B.A. in Philosophy. She also earned her MBA. LaVerne retired from state service after employment at Crownsville State Hospital, the Department of Juvenile Services, and the Department of Aging. She also taught college level continuing education courses. LaVerne was a zealous advocate for the disenfranchised. LaVerne was a devoted mother, and loyal family member and friend. As a mother and grandmother she was the source of invaluable encouragement, love, and support. She dedicated her life to serving others; she was a faithful servant. We are forever changed by her life and she will be forever loved and cherished. We miss her immensely.
