Federico B. Betances

Federico Bienvenido Betances was born to Federico A. Betances and Sofia Beauchamp on November 24th 1937 in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic and passed away this Saturday July 25th 2015 at Doctors Hospital in Lanham MD, from complications of advanced cancer. Fred or Freddy as he was known to most of his friends and family, retired in 2014 from a long career in the restaurant and hotel business. He enjoyed life, spent time with his family, going to the beach, traveling to his birthplace Dominican Republic. He was an avid sports fan especially baseball and basketball and loved rooting for the Redskins. He was also an avid weather observer. He is preceded in death by both his parents, and his son David Scott Betances. Surviving are his brothers: Porfirio (Teresa) of Maryland, Nelson (Lutgarda "Luty"), Fernando (Emilia) of Santo Domingo, D.R., and David of Miami, FL. His children: Robert Wilson (Ginny Lee) of Maryland Darlene Cleveland (Scott) of North Carolina Federico "Freddy" Betances" of Wisconsin; Tracey Redmon (Timothy) of Maryland; Jaime Betances (Elizabeth "Liz") of Maryland and daughter-in-law Brie Kinsel Betances of Alabama. As well as, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly. A private memorial service will be held to celebrate his life.
