Edward L. Pickens

Went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2015. He was born May 1, 1930 in Tippah County, Mississippi to the late Wiley A. and Lillian R. Pickens. He was the youngest of eight children, raised on a dairy farm where he would milk cows and pick cotton. He joined the Air Force in 1950, where his love for flying began. After the service, he moved to Maryland and began his career as a tile setter. He was owner of Pickens Tile Co. for 29 years. He served as a deacon at his church. Ed loved flying, hunting, the Lady Terps Basketball team, playing dominoes with the Macks, and working with his hands. Ed was a loving and caring husband. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen; his sons, Robert (Analyn), Edward (Jody), Timothy (Melissa), Paul and Gregory (Kathy); his daughter, Leigh Ann Grill (Robert); 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Monday, July 20, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 12 p.m. Interment private.
