Thomas James Donahue (January 23, 1930- May 2, 2015) Thomas James Donahue, 85, former resident of Neptune, NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 52 years, Phyllis Kay (Lewis), his three children: Anne (David) Eberhart of Cincinnati, OH, Paul (Janel) Donahue of Twinsburg, OH and Kate ( John) Costello of Crofton, MD, and 8 grandchildren: David and Kathryn Eberhart, Taylor Vidovic, Corey and McKenna Donahue, and Diana, Abigail and Olivia Costello. Tom served his country as a Radioman Third Class, in the US Navy, during the Korean War. He graduated from Monmouth College with BA in History and received his Master's Degree from Seton Hall University. For 33 years he was an innovative educator and grew in responsibilities to become the Chairman of the High School Social Studies Department for the Long Branch School System. He was a dedicated coach, and a pioneer in establishing the girl's traveling program for the Neptune Soccer Association. Tom was also known as a passionate woodworker, general fix-it man and computer slayer. Thomas loved God and instilled his values in his children. He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church, attending Holy Innocents and then St. Anselm Parish where he was a member and greeter for over 30 years. After relocating to Maryland, he received communion weekly from Holy Family Church, Davidsonville. The family is requesting donations be made in lieu of flowers to The National Parkinson Foundation (parkinson.org), your local Hospice Chapter, or a charity of your choice.
