Ralph Salvador Arroyo, 74, entered into eternal rest on April 28, 2015 among family and friends at the Mandarin Hospice Home in Harwood, Maryland. The son of Raphael Salvador Arroyo and Barbara Valle Arroyo, he was born on November 30, 1940 in Manhattan, New York and raised in Greenbelt, MD. He resided in Rockville, MD, Germantown, MD, Arlington, VA, Middlesex, England, and Mallorca, Spain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Elaine Hawk (Arroyo) Walton, and daughter Tamara Celeste Arroyo. Survived by his sisters: Clara Josefa Goss & her husband Fern Alvin Goss, and sister Judith Estelle Foulke & her husband Clark Neamand Foulke, Sr.; sons and daughters: Tania René Arroyo Jope & husband Nicholas Ralph Jope; Christian Conrad Salvador Arroyo & wife Melissa Anne Blanchard Arroyo; Tyla Yvette Arroyo Olson & husband Nick P. Olson; and 6 grandchildren: Emma Kate Arroyo, Bennett Salvador Arroyo, Casey Lee Olson, Katie Reneé Olson, Sophia Brynn Jope, and Ryan Nicholas Jope. He is also survived by nephew Glenn Robert Goss & wife Jennifer Scott Goss and their son Maxwell Levi Goss; niece Judith Marie Levitt & husband Bruce Irwin Levitt and their children Dylan Tyler Levitt, Danielle Taylor Levitt & Dara Nicole Levitt; nephew David Linford Foulke, Sr. & wife Cynthia Penelope Foulke and their children Grace Elizabeth Foulke, David Linford Foulke Jr., Stephen James Foulke & Evan Stewart Foulke; nephew Clark Neamand Foulke, Jr. & wife Christine Noelani Foulke and their daughter Hannah Noelani Foulke; nephew Thomas Rafael Foulke; and his dearest friends: Dan & Peggy Garges, and Abi Vine. He Graduated from High Point High School in 1958 in Bladensburg, MD and studied Computer Science at American University in Washington, DC. He loved the theatre and played a part in his High School's performance of "West Side Story". He raced stock cars at 75 & 80 race track, and sang in the Doo Wop band "The Kooltones" that released the hits "Now You Tell Me" and "Forever", in 1971. He was an avid sports fan, and Refereed for Montgomery County Public Schools - high school football for ten years, and various NCAA Division I college football games. In his professional career, he worked in computer technology for Wang-United States, Xerox, Honeywell and Wang-Europe. At Xerox Data Systems, circa 1971-1975, Ralph initially served as a Senior Systems Analyst with exceptional technical skills in the signals analysis field. He requested and was granted a transition into sales as the company representative for the U.S. Naval Intelligence Command and was highly successful with the sales of real time computer systems. He distinguished himself in excellent coverage of the large account at the Naval Air Systems Command and was commended for such accomplishments. He was very hard working, dedicated and competent with his blend of technical knowledge and a natural people-oriented personality. He spoke 5 languages and held the position of President of the Rotary Club of Calvia in Mallorca, Spain in 2012-2013. He was conservative, highly intelligent and sometimes emotional, yet his great sense of humor and roaring laugh was infectious! He enjoyed traveling, fine dining, playing golf, the theatre, reading novels and listening to many different genres of music. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 12th at 3:00pm at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 13106 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD 20720.
