Sam Hicks

Samuel W. Hicks "Sam" passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. He was born in Washington DC to the late Norman and Marilyn Hicks on December 26, 1949 and was the oldest of three children. Sam grew up in Silver Spring and later Bethesda, graduating from Walt Whitman High School. His career in law enforcement as a police officer began in 1969, retiring from Prince George's County in 1992. In 1988, he started what eventually became known as Rescue Phone, Inc. He moved to Crofton in 1991 and married his beloved Rachel on November 18, 2000. Sam was the devoted father of two sons, Bill Hicks and John Rock and his wife, Christina; a dear brother to Scott Hicks and Sharon Acosta; and a loving grandfather of three grandchildren, Amelia, Jack and Sara. A visitation for family and friends will be held at BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 S), Bowie, MD on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. Interment will be private.
