Herman was a family man. He loved his family and God, the two most important things to him. His wife was the love of his life, his sweetie. He adored his children and grandchildren. He was the most supportive father and adoring granddad! He was a loving son to his parents and mother in law. His brothers and sisters were more than his siblings - they were his best friends. They had a special bond and they made it a priority to stay involved in each other's lives. They made sure that their kids knew each other and also their aunts and uncles. He loved all his nieces and nephews (some he even babysat!) as well as his great nieces and nephews. Family was all that mattered. He was so proud of serving our country in the Army. He was proud of the work he did for Metro Transit Authority. As a devout Christian, he served in church as an usher and supported God in missions. He loved country music, "oldies" and Jimmy Swaggart. A sports fanatic, he was a die hard Redskins fan and he rooted for all ACC teams. He loved roller coasters, taking family vacations, playing spades, attending anything his children or grandchildren were in or doing, laughing, goofing around with family members, playing sports, the new car smell, giving advice, telling "to make a long story short" stories, eating "good" food and enjoying life. He was so many things to so many people. He will be loved, missed and remembered fondly.
