John William Rowan

On Thursday, January 8, 2015, of Gambrills, MD. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a U.S. Marine Corps pilot in the South Pacific during WWII. He rose to the rank of Deputy Chief in the New York City Fire Department. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather. Beloved husband of 71 years to the late Alma I. Rowan. Father of Robert Rowan and his wife, Mary Ann; brother of Florence Filer; grandfather of Michael Rowan, Peter Rowan, and Jean Borman; great-grandfather of Madeline, Andrew, Liza, Kate, and Molly. Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 5 to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 10:30am. Interment will be in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
