Ruth Evelyn Shaffer

Ruth Evelyn Shaffer of Bowie, Maryland, died on January 2, 2015 at her home. She was born in Berlin, Pennsylvania on October 6, 1921, to Ada Rebecca Saylor Hoyle and John Presley Hoyle. She was graduated from Berlin Brothersvalley High School. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Shaffer Brown, of Washington, DC, two grandchildren, Gregory Scott Brown and Alexis Elizabeth Brown, one great grandson, William Ellis Wise, and a sister, Donna Lee Hoyle Lane of Bowie, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard V. Shaffer in 1999. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 14900 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715 on Saturday, January 10, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private at a later date.
