SANDRA L. BRUENING Sandra "Sandy" L. (Hole) Bruening, 75, of Bowie, MD was called home to Heaven at 12:02 PM on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Crofton Convalescence and Rehabilitation Center in Maryland. She was born on November 9, 1939 in Lima, OH to Lawrence Hole and Ruth Burkholder Rumpf who both preceded her in death. On February 20, 1965 she married Donald L. Bruening, who survives in Bowie, also originally from Lima. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a 1957 graduate of Lima Senior High School. Sandy joined Donald in Frankfurt, W. Germany, Camp Zama, Japan and Menwith Hill Station, Harrogate, England as an accompanying spouse during his overseas assignments. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were in high school and college, then was employed as a Data Entry Operator at the National Security Agency until her retirement. She was an active quilter and bowler, enjoyed scrapbooking, and was a lighthouse enthusiast, having visited many lighthouses along the Atlantic coast from Maine to Key West. Family was always important to her and she looked after her children and grandchildren with great pleasure. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Also surviving are her sons Darren (Bonnie) Bruening of Dunkirk, MD; Kevin (Tracey) Bruening of Columbia, MD; her grandchildren Andrew, Thomas and Elizabeth; brothers Greg Blakley of Savannah, GA and Harold Rumpf of Lima, OH; several nieces, nephews, groeat nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Edith Thies. Visitation will be on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 1:00-3:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD with Pastor Gann from Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
