On Thursday October 2, 2014, the kindest most gentle and loving heart that we have ever known stopped beating. Without any fanfare or warning, Our lord took her in her sleep. He took from our midst our beloved mother, daughter, and sister Jennette Brothers, proving to us once more that He only takes the best!! Jennette Marie Brothers was born on August 15, 1954 in Burtonwood, England as the third daughter to the ever present Betty Brothers and the late Colden Lee Brothers. She graduated from Largo High School before attending Prince George's Community College and ultimately graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Library Science Education. Over the years, God blessed her with two children and two grandchildren. Her sons Lieutenant Commander Christopher Juan Carter and Stephen Andrews Brothers (aka Terry McClain) each has one child. Christopher's daughter is Logan Joy Carter and Stephen's son is Loyal Thomas McClain, both of whom met their grandmother before she passed away. Jennette was a devoted and wonderful mother who cherished her children and grandchildren ensuring that they would be brought up in the way of the Lord. Jennette was blessed with a pleasant, quiet, peaceful, smart, and sweet spirit. Her smile was priceless and her many kind and encouraging words will always remain with those whose lives she touched. Her generosity, thoughtfulness, loving and caring spirit were felt throughout her church family and the communities in which she lived. Her faith and belief in God's love, grace, healing power, and mercy were evident in the way in which she lived her life with humility, resilience, and confidence. Her love, kindness, and the determination to provide the best that she possible could for her family will live on in their memory. These attributes significantly enabled her children to attain the education and other achievements that they have accomplished. Jennette leaves to cherish her loving memory her amazing and phenomenal loving mother Betty Brothers; the aforementioned children and grandchildren; in her own words, "the best daughter-in-law a mother could ask for" in Gea Isa Carter; her aunts Shirley Harvey, Althea Roane, and Pearl Parker; uncles Oscar James, Norman James, and Danny Brothers; two sisters Joanne Hurt and Jennifer Brothers; her brother Jerome Brothers; nieces and nephews: Guy Lee McCoy, Jennelle Hurt, Tyler Bruce, Ryan Pearson, Marquis Brown, Yamani Strong and a host of other family and friends.
