ANTHONY (Tony) ASSIA (age 72), formerly of Bowie, MD, died on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. Tony is survived by his beautifully caring and supportive wife Elizabeth (Betty) Assia. Tony was a devoted and loving husband for 49 years. Born to the late Tony and Sarah Assia, October 25, 1941 in Johnstown, PA, Tony graduated from Johnstown High School and received a BA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1965. Relocating to the Washington, DC area after graduation, Tony was a dedicated federal employee with the U.S. General Accounting Office for 35 years. He is survived by sons, Brian and daughter-in-law Laura; Matthew and daughter-in-law Shelley; and Marcus. As well as five wonderful grandchildren Caroline, Nicholas, Samuel, Ethan, and Audrey. And siblings Mike Assia, Paul Assia and Sarah Louise Peters. Tony was a modest, quiet man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Tony could always be counted on take care of his grandchildren regardless of the urgency of the request. His grandkids will share fond memories of their time with Granddad. Tony cherished the years (read: decades) raising his sons. Their accomplishments were his treasures. Tony could often be found tending to his garden. His warm smile, kind heart, and gentle soul will be greatly missed by family and friends Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD from 10am to 11am on Monday, September 15, 2014, followed at 12 Noon by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Chapel, 16501 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, MD.
