Louis William Chesnick (Lou), a 45 year resident of Bowie passed away in his home on Friday, August 29, 2014. He was 79 years old. He was born on July 1, 1935 in Wardner, ID, son of the late Louis Chesnick and Edna Furze. He was a graduate of Connellsville HS in Pennsylvania. Lou proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958 on the USS Newport News. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an HVAC Installer/Foreman for McCrea Equipment Co. He was previously employed at General Heating, Medallion and Baker Sheet Metal which was instrumental in the building of Levitt Bowie. Lou loved to fish and hunt and spend time with his dog Lucy. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling and spending time in the garage with family and friends. He was a 34 year member of American Legion - Disney Bell Post #66. Lou is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Laura, three devoted sons, Mark (Lisa) of Bowie, Matt (Tabby) of Crofton, and Bill (Jen) of Baltimore. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Gary (Jeanine) of Bowie. Lou is also survived by nine grandchildren, Brian (Kelly), Kelly, Ryan, Tyler, Brett, Keegan, Casey, Tori, and Parker. In addition, he is survived by sisters Barbara Shultz and Sue Peck both of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.
