John Edward Merrell

John Edward Merrell, of Lanham, MD, was born on January 22, 1939, in Columbus, GA. He was the son of Artis Edward Merrell and Annie Margaret Cole, both deceased. He was also proceeded in death by his brothers Ricci and Ray Merrell. He is survived by his brother Mike Merrell and his sister Debi Walker; his children Anthony Edward Merrell and Kelly Michelle Schildt; his son-in-law Donnie Schildt; and his granddaughter Kaitlyn Rose Schildt. He also leaves behind his long-time companion Nancy C. Randall. John served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. He was a huge Washington Redskins fan, enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, fishing, and was a talented artist (both sketching and painting). He worked for Volkswagen of America for 22 years before retiring in 1993. John had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and a great sense of humor. His family will miss him greatly.
