Mary "Bootsie" Jones. Born Mary Mozelle Williams on May 23, 1932 in Ocala, Florida, died July 25, 2014 in Crownsville, MD. Bootsie attended Sacred Heart Academy in Belmont, NC (1950) and Saint Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, IN (1954). She married Alan Richard Jones on August 22, 1956 and settled in Bowie, MD in 1963 where they were members of Saint Pius X parish and active in the community for 48 years. In addition to raising six children, Bootsie earned a Master's degree in early childhood education from Bowie State College (1973) and her Montessori teaching certification from the Institute of the Association Montessori Internationale in Washington, DC (1974). She taught at the Montessori Children's House of Bowie from 1974 to 1977 and at John Burroughs Elementary School in Washington, DC from 1977 until her retirement in 1994. She served as a docent for the Belair Mansion and was an active member of the International Club, Garden Club, Smocking Club and book club in Bowie. She also served on the Liturgy Committee and as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Pius X Parish. She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Alan R. Jones and her daughter Julia Mary Jones-Nolan (Bernie). She is survived by five children and their spouses: Alan Jones (Barbara), Paul Jones (Jill), Jeanette Frick (Andrew), Jane Miller (Jake), Mary Ann Messenger (John); 15 grandchildren, sisters Jeanette Carroll and Ann O'Leary, and countless nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, students and loved ones. Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 4 to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 14720 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11am. Interment Private.
