Lucas Ray Wells of Crofton, MD was born on October 29, 1994 at Andrews Air Force Base, MD, to Deane Dougherty and Brian Wells. Lucas walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 20, 2014 at the age of 19. Lucas was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dennis Dougherty and great-grandmother Anna Tavani of Philadelphia, PA; paternal great-grandparents Ferris and Pearl Wells of Colony, KS and John and LaRee Thexton of Weida, KS; cousin Christian Schott of Cape Girardeau, MO. Lucas is survived by his mother Deane Dougherty of Crofton, MD, father Brian Wells and wife, Kathryn of Odenton, MD; and sister, Annina Wells; maternal grandmother Edwina Lester and husband Mike of Parksburg, PA; paternal grandparents Calvin and Carol Wells of Cape Girardeau, MO. After moving from North Carolina to Maryland, Lucas attended South River High School and graduated in June 2013. Lucas was attending Anne Arundel Community College. Lucas was an avid lover of sports and during his young life he played baseball, loved a game of pickup basketball, and snow skiing, especially when he would race someone to the bottom. One of his great prides in life was being a varsity member of the 2013 South River Wrestling team. Lucas traveled to many areas in his youth helping others. His mission trips to rebuild homes for those in need led him to West Virginia, Colorado, Kentucky and Belize. Lucas will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was a kind young man that brought laughter to all; his smile was infectious and his laugh was like none other. He lived with a code of ethics beyond his years and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation is from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014 and a Celebration of Life is Friday, April 25, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Both services are being held at Community United Methodist Church, 1690 Reidel Rd, Crofton, Md 21114.
