Laura Marie Hansberry ("La") passed away peacefully the night of March 15th 2014. She was 56. She finally succumbed to the cancer that took her from us after a four month struggle. She is survived by her siblings Vincent Jr., Brenda, Joyce, and Ronald, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, other relations and friends too numerous to name. Laura was a joy to be around, the best friend you could ever ask for, and an eternally positive person who truly believed that everyone deserved to be happy. She was a devout Nichiren Buddhist who lived her faith every day of her life and made it her central focus. She was the most genuine, generous and loving person I've ever met and I consider it a honor that she chose to share her life with me for the last 30 years (not nearly long enough). Her passing leaves a void in my life that I don't think will ever be filled, but I'm truly grateful that I got to be with her as long as I did, and that I was able to be with her at the end. Goodbye Sweetheart, for now. We will meet again, I know it.
