Diane Marie Wood of Crofton, a life-long resident of Maryland, a loving mother and grandmother, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Friday, February 28th, 2014. She was 69. Diane was born at Prince Georges General Hospital on January 27, 1945; she was the daughter of the late Guy and Gwendolyn Wagner Appel. She graduated from Bladensburg Senior High School and went to work for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. In 1964, she married Donald Wood Sr. and they lived in Langley Park, Cape St. John and then Crofton, Md. After her husband's tragic death in 1980, she went to work for Contract Kitchens. In 1984, together with her brother Paul, she founded Recorded Resources Corp. where she worked as CFO until her death. She generously donated to many charities. She loved the beach, crabs, watching golf and auto racing, but most of all her children and family. She is survived by a daughter, Deanna and husband Shane of Crofton, a son Donald Jr. of Jessup; three sisters, Janice and husband Joe of Church Hill, Sharon and husband Clay of Frederick and Debra of Laurel; two brothers, Guy and wife Kathleen of Glen Burnie and Paul and wife Patricia of Pasadena; 3 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Sr. and a son Douglas. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 7 to 9pm at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD, where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 12:00pm. Interment, Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery.
