Pauline Ratliff Brammell passed from this life on February 27, 2014 at the age of91. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her children Linda (& Robert) Goldman and Susan (&Daniel) Clark; grandchildren Laura Goldman (&Giovanni Gonzalez), Jennifer Goldman, Kimberly Goldman, Daniel (&Christa) Clark, David Clark, Kathleen (&Mike) Wilborn, and John Clark; and great-grandchildren Robert, Gabriella, and Austin Goldman, Eva and Daniel Clark, and Jonas Wilborn. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Wallace Brammell, Jr. and her beloved son, David Glenn Brammell. Pauline was born on October 5, 1922 in Ellwood, Kentucky; the second child of Paul E. and Vina Lovada Ratliff. She had an older sister, Blanche, and younger siblings: Wanda, Paul and Lora Lee. She attended Bowling Green Business University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. On September 27, 1945, Pauline married Wallace Scott Brammell, Jr. They moved to Michigan in 1950 and had three children by the end of the decade. She worked as a stay-at-home-mother and a secretary, and began collecting and trading antiques out of her home. In 1965, the family moved to Bowie, Maryland where Pauline worked for the National Security Agency. After a lifetime of collecting antiques, she started her own antique business (Bowie Fireside Antiques) in 1971 with her good friend, Peggy First. After retiring from full time work at the shop, Pauline continued to be active in the antique business through shows and booths until the age of90. She was an avid bridge player from childhood. Polly and Peggy were formidable bridge partners and played together in various venues and bridge clubs for many years. Pauline became a Life Master in her 70's. She was also an active member of Soroptimist International. She loved reading, exploring historic homes, and spending time with her friends and large family. Pauline lived in Bowie for 48 years. The funeral will be held at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 N.W. Crain Hwy., (Route 3 South) Bowie, MD 20715 on Wednesday, March 12,2014. The visitation hours will be from 10:30 untill2:00 PM, at which time the service will begin. She will be interred in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
