Mr. Mario Vidotto, Jr., aged 82, died peacefully February 13, 2014 at Spa Creek Center in Annapolis, Maryland. He was born September 4, 1931 in Washington, D.C. to Elizabeth and Mario Vidotto, Sr. A lifelong resident of the Washington D.C. area, he served his country as a member of the US Navy and his community as an officer in the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. Mr. Vidotto also worked in the masonry industry alongside family members, and retired from a career with the Washington Suburban Sanitation Committee. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 217 in College Park, Maryland, and served as their representative at the groundbreaking ceremony for the National WWII Memorial. Well known for his generosity, he was sustained throughout his life by his unwavering loyalty to his family and commitment to the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Vidotto; two brothers, Frank Vidotto and Anthony Vidotto; and nephew Scott Winegar. He is survived by a daughter, Sherry Vidotto, of Jessup, Maryland, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Julie Vidotto, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and son Darin Vidotto of Camp Springs, Maryland; grandchildren Angela and Rudy Garcia; sisters Pat Fox, Gloria Dugan, Rita Vidotto, Mary Winegar, Beatrice Anderson, and Pauline Zeglin; sisters-in-law Jean Vidotto and Joie Vidotto; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends. The family would like to thank the many staff of Spa Creek Center for their kindness and continuing care during Mario's final years. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, Maryland, with a memorial service to begin at Noon. This will be followed by a brief prayer service at the chapel in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland. A reception will be held after Cheltenham services at the American Legion Post 217, 9218 Baltimore Avenue (Route 1), College Park, Maryland, 301-441-2783.
