Virginia A. Sullivan "Ginny"

Virginia Anne "Ginny" Sullivan, age 82 of Ellicott City, MD formerly of Bowie, MD passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD. She was born in Rochester, NY on August 24, 1931, daughter of the late Nicholas and Ida (Sherman) Teddy. She graduated from Mercy High School in Rochester, NY in 1949 and from Nazareth College, also in Rochester, in 1953. Ginny was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Bowie, MD, where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality and worked in the church Rectory. She also worked for the Prince George's County Public School System, and for many years at The Capital newspaper in Annapolis, MD in the Advertising Department. Ginny also volunteered for numerous organizations. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Walter B. Sullivan, Jr.; her son, Michael Sullivan; three sisters, Concetta, Marion, and Jeanne; a brother, Dominick; a niece, Mary Martha Teddy; and a nephew, Horace Gioia. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Sullivan of Crofton, MD and Katie Berges and her husband George of Ellicott City, MD; two granddaughters, Allie and Jackie Berges; a sister, Mary Beth Teddy, RSM of Rochester, NY; and five nephews, Alfonso, Nicholas, and Peter Gioia and Michael and Matthew Teddy. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy., Bowie, MD 20715. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, February 1st at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 14720 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD 20715. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 16501 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD 20715, immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Virginia's name to St. Anselm's Abbey School, 4501 South Dakota Ave, NE, Washington, DC 20017, www.saintanselms.org.
