Marie Murphy

Marie Murphy, 94, of Bowie, Maryland (formerly of Crofton, MD) entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the home of her daughter and family. Marie was born on April 5, 1919 in Whitestone, New York, the daughter of Julia and William Bryn. Marie was preceded in death (1971) by her beloved husband, John C. Murphy, a retired Army colonel and Secret Service Agent. Military moves every two years in the states and abroad offered a wonderful life of travel and friendships far and wide. In her later years, Marie loved playing bridge and winning at Bingo. She had a quick wit, was very resilient and fiercely independent. She dearly loved her family and had a strong faith in the Lord. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ahern (Patrick) and Barbara Edlund (Bill); a niece, Ilene Furrer (Ken); a nephew, Ricky Sikorski; and three grandchildren, Bret Edlund, John C. Ahern and Patrick Joseph Ahern. The family will receive friends at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD 20715 on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 1 - 4 pm.
