William Kyle Bagbey

May 23, 1987 — January 11, 2014

William Kyle Bagbey was taken by his Savior on January 11th at the age of 26. Kyle died suddenly at home in Davidsonville on the last day of his Christmas break from Iowa State University, where he was to receive his Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing in the coming spring. Kyle's life was defined by his passion for sports and his enthusiastic and engaging personality. He was loved by a great many for his fun-loving, open and endearing nature. His heroes were Cyclones, St. Louis Cardinals and 49ers, and no one who had a Facebook account ever had to guess about his fanaticism, or when the game was starting. He was well known among the ISU athletes and coaching staffs through his Marketing internship with the University's sports department, and he loved being a part of Hilton Magic. Kyle had a very troubling youth, as drug addiction problems resulted in serious harm to himself and others, behavior that continued into his early twenties. He struggled mightily to overcome his addictions, and had turned his life around in every manner imaginable, working his way through recovery and achieving his academic goals. His grades were not easy for him, but he diligently worked for what he got, and put his whole heart into both the academic and social aspects of college life. His life was a triumph since it might easily have ended before he was able to demonstrate to his friends and family what a remarkable man he truly was. It is a blessing from God that he got that chance over the past 5 years while living in Iowa, and that he seized it with such gusto. He was ultimately unable to defeat his weakness for drugs, but his good works and the love that he shared with so many made his life something that can and should be celebrated. Kyle was survived by his mother, Janet Burns Bagbey, father, Roger Bagbey, sister, Marin Bagbey, daughter, Brooke, grandmother, Demetra Anne Woodyard, girlfriend, Micah Stevens, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Chuck Bagbey, and grandparents, Evelyn and Raymond Burns.
