Gerard A. Clancy, "Jerry," went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle to a large extended family. He has been happily married to his wife, Carole, for 55+ years and was devoted to his family and friends. Jerry was born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania on June 27, 1931 and came to the Washington, D.C. area after earning a BA in Education from Mansfield University in Mansfield, PA and serving in the U.S. Army, First Infantry Division (the Big Red One) in Bamberg, Germany. Jerry would later earn a BS in Business Administration from the American University of Washington, D.C. and go on to pursue a successful career in management with the Western Electric Company and successor companies AT&T and Lucent Technologies. He has been a resident of Bowie, MD for over 52 years and was an original member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Jerry enjoyed traveling throughout the world for many years with his wife Carole and enjoyed many family vacations at Massanutten Resort in Virginia and Cacapon State Park in West Virginia. He also enjoyed biking, hiking, tennis, skiing, traveling, spending time at Belair Bath & Tennis Club and socializing with a close-knit group of friends from Bowie. Jerry is survived by his wife Carole, sons Pat (Pam), Mark (Dawn), grandchildren Ryan, Katie Erin, Sean, Colin and Corey Clancy, sisters Margaret (Wool) and Theresa Clancy, sister and brother-in-law Jeannie and Bill Hennessy and nephew Danny Hupfer and his wife Kathy. Jerry was preceded in death by his sister Ann and brother Cyril.
