Lillie Arvillous Presnell Miller passed away on December 19, 2013. She lived in Berwyn Heights, Maryland for 62 years with her husband Alfred E. Miller, originally from Brownwood, North Carolina. They were married for 68 years and he preceded her in death by 1 ½ years. Lillie was born on April 7, 1918 in Western North Carolina and was the daughter of Willard and Celia Mast Presnell of Boone, North Carolina. She had six sisters and five brothers. Lillie is survived by two children: Rita Miller Sayer of Greenbelt, MD and Jerel Miller of Lanham, MD; two grandsons, Brian Sayer and his wife Carla of Port Deposit, MD and Kevin Sayer of Baltimore, MD; two great grandsons, Dylan and Cayden Sayer of Port Deposit, MD. Lillie and Alfred were very generous and helpful to their family. Before WWII, Lillie worked at the Daniel Boone Hotel in North Carolina. After she worked on airplanes at Glen L. Martins in Maryland as "Rosie the Riveter." Then during WWII she married and moved to Alameda Naval Air Station in California where Alfred was in the Navy. Lillie and Alfred have a "Special" Son who they took care of for many years and later visited often until they passed away. Lillie always believed she would see her "Special" Son one day in heaven, Jerry would have a new mind and body. Lillie loved to cook, especially for family and friends. She learned how to become a good cook from her mother in the hills of North Carolina. She also enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. Like her husband, she was always very generous and gave away many fresh vegetables, canned goods and homemade candy. Lillie loved church, family, children, animals, reading and especially her grandsons and great grandsons. She will be greatly missed.
