George R. Sook, 81 years of age, of Bowie, MD, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 5:45 PM. George was in the care of Hospice of the Chesapeake. George was born in Millville, NJ on March 12, 1932 to Clarence Albert Sook and Alice E. Lange. Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. He completed his Masters Degree in Transportation Science at the University of Tennessee. George married Ruth Evelyn Hynes on June 5, 1954 at Mitchell Air Force Base, NY. George retired as a Major with 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He served in many leadership positions with the Girl Scouts of America and the Boy Scouts of America. He attained Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow. He worked as a tax professional for 30 years. He was a charter member of the National Society of Tax Professionals. George was a lifetime bowler beginning as a pinboy in Ocean City, NJ at the age of 14. His bowling accomplishments include an Armed Services Championship while the Air Force and induction into the National Capitol Area Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Bowie, MD and an Associate member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. George is survived by his wife Ruth: two sons Michael Sook and Stephen Sook; two daughters Cynthia Sook-Rohlfs and Theresa Bustanoby; 9 grandchildren Stephen Sook Jr., Timothy Sook, Beau Bustanoby, Tia Bustanoby. Melody Rohlfs, Miriam Rohlfs, Olivia Rohlfs, Lauren Rohlfs, and Georgia Rohlfs; 4 great-granchildren Briana Rohlfs, Megan Sook, Avena Eigner, and Maddox Sook.
