CMSgt (Ret.) Robert G. "Bob" Vermillion, 76, passed away on Sunday September 15, 2013 from injuries sustained in a fall in his Bowie home bringing an early close to a full and adventurous life. Known as Bob, Dad, Grandpa or Mr. Bob, he was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather; a dedicated and loyal friend; a proud and patriotic member of our nation's armed services and an adopted father, grandfather, friend and caretaker to the numerous neighbors and acquaintances (human and animal alike) whose good fortune it was to have Bob in their life. A lover of the outdoors, Bob passed on his love of nature to his children and his grandchildren often taking them on hiking, camping and canoe trips. He and his one and only true love, his wife Carol, spent numerous summers on adventures canvassing the United States in their camper exploring the wonders of the country that he loved and served so well. An avid deer hunter, Bob was particularly proud of the fact that he never missed a shot as he never actually fired his rifle; his idea of the perfect hunt being the stalking and observation of the deer in their natural habitat. As a master of economical communication, Bob could convey a wide range of emotions with merely a glance and, as his children and grandchildren can attest, the mere utterance of "brrrpp brrrpp" could bring an immediate end to an action that he deemed unwise. A man who often conveyed his love through deeds, a host of family, friends, mere acquaintances and yes, even the neighbors' dogs benefitted from his large, giving and grateful heart.
