Barbara Mary Butler

Barbara Mary Butler, born March 20, 1926, in Buffalo, NY, passed quickly and peacefully in her sleep at home on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Barbara was the beloved wife of Donald Butler, the devoted mother of Patricia (and companion Eddie Koebke) and Jennifer (and husband Tim Carr), sister to Therese Butler and Rev. Thomas Fleming (dec.), and proud and loving Grandma Butler' to grandchildren Bryan, Michael, Carly, Allison, Nate, David, Danny, Johnny, Julia, and Isaac, and great grandchildren Freddie, Brigitte, and Michael. After teaching English for 10 years in New York and Maryland, Barbara focused on her love of being wife, mother, and homemaker. In 1972, the Butlers moved to Bowie, MD, where they became active members of their community and church. Barbara will be remembered for her genuine friendliness and ardent faith, as well as her love of music (especially piano), games, and old movies. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing at 1:00 on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Ascension Catholic Church (12700 Lanham Severn Rd, Bowie MD 20720), followed by a funeral Mass at 2:00. Barbara will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery (Buffalo, NY) later this year.
