William P. Davis

William (Bill) P. Davis, of Catonsville, Maryland, died August 28, 2013. He was born November 10, 1927 in rural Elberton, Georgia. Bill graduated from Falling Creek High School in 1944 and then entered the U.S. Navy where he served as a medic until his honorable discharge. He entered the University of Georgia and graduated Cum Laude with honors in 1956 with a degree in accounting. He then began an illustrious government career, working with the General Accounting Office, NASA, Department Of Transportation, and Department Of Energy, retiring in 1979 as an SES Executive. Bill began a second career with Hay Group, an international consulting firm, and Midwest Research Institute. While at Midwest Research, he managed their Renewable Energy Research Center. Bill also did independent consulting and served on numerous advisory committees and boards of directors, including the Laurel Pregnancy Center. Bill served as a political consultant and policy analyst for several campaigns and was a member of President Ronald Reagan's transition team. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Crofton where he also served as a trustee. In 1954, Bill married Patty-Bo Harvie of Quincy, Massachusetts. He and Patty-Bo had two children, Kethney and Kam. Bill was known for touching the lives of people through his kindness, generosity, insight, and wisdom. The years he spent caring for Patty-Bo during her illness exemplified his strong commitment to his marriage. Many people have been positively changed just by watching how Bill lived his life, even and especially through difficult times. Bill is the beloved husband of the late Patty-Bo Davis. He is survived by son, Kethney Davis and his wife, Sherri; his daughter, Kam Gast and her husband, Chuck; his grandchildren, Kyle Davis, Kara Davis, Kory Davis, Kody Davis, and Kasey Gast; his great-grandson, Finlay Morgan; brother Jack Davis; sisters Becky Eavenson, Frances Davis, Jane Farmer, and Joyce Davis. His brother, Obe Walker Davis Jr., predeceased him. Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, at First Baptist Church of Crofton, 1690 Crofton Parkway, Crofton, MD. The funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday, September 4, at 6:00 p.m. A meal for family and friends will be provided at the church immediately following the funeral. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations.
