A Celebration of the Life Of Hans Joseph Jones January 13, 1954 - August 10, 2013 On Jan 13, 1954, Hans Joseph Jones was born in Wurzburg Germany, to military parents, Harold Lorenza Jones & Phyllis Joseph Jones. Their union produced two children, Patricia and Hans Jones. The younger of the two siblings, Hans grew up in Uniondale, Long Island New York. He developed many loving and long lasting friendships. Hans was accepted to Palmer Memorial Institute, a college preparatory academy in North Carolina, where he graduated with honors. He was accepted into Virginia State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. While in school, he pledged too, and became an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Beta Gamma Chapter. Growing up, Hans participated in many activities and civic organizations. His interests included horseback riding, swimming & archery, but most of all, he loved boating. A member of the Fort Washington Boating Association, Hans enjoyed & spent countless days on the water aboard his powerboat which he lovingly named, "Poor Me II". He also loved to travel, and spent much of his time visiting the family home in Discovery Bay, Jamaica, BWI. Hans had successful careers in both publishing and finance. He recently retired from Market Research Company, Rockville MD, and prior employment at Dean Witter. Upon retirement, Hans was able to continue doing those things which he enjoyed. Loved by all who knew him, Hans is survived by his loving sister, Ms. Patricia Jones of Long Island New York, and many devoted friends including; Mr. Thomas Reid of New York, who grew up with, and has been like a brother to Hans since age 3, Mr. Melvin Tucker of Maryland, Ms. Crystal Nichole Wright of Washington DC, and Mr. Deginal Boykin of Maryland, and many more friends and extended family, who will miss him dearly.
