Marjory Lillian Near

Marjory Lillian Near, a Bowie resident since 1964, died on Saturday, August 3, 2013. She was born on September 30, 1927 in Saginaw, MI. Marjory was a Sunday School Teacher for many years, most recently at Grace Baptist Church in Bowie. She was also an artist of Ceramics and used to own a store in Bowie, located at what is now the Giant in what is now Free State Mall. She was predeceased by her parents, Miley and Jeanette Near and by her brother, John Near. Survivors include her sisters, Marion Williams, Dorothy Hargrove, Helen Ann Near, Ruth Klischer, Janet Brannan, and Marie Sellers; and her brother, Richard Near. There was a visitation at Beall Funeral Home. The funeral was held at Grace Baptist Church, followed by interment in Washington National Cemetery, Suitland. Because she was so involved with Missions programs, the family asks that contributions be made to Ron Onks, a Missionary with IGM, who is currently in Australia.
