Frances Irene Linkins passed away peacefully at the Envoy Nursing Home in Denton, MD on July 6, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Nellie Perkett and stepdaughter of the late Oliver Perkett. She was born on September 30, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI. She moved to the Maryland area in 1936, where she met and married Roy Linkins on June 22, 1946. They lived in Takoma Park and later moved to Bowie, MD, where they resided for many years raising their six children. Irene was a devout wife and mother who enjoyed reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family. When the children were grown, she went to work at the Bowie Junior High School cafeteria. Roy and Irene moved to Millsboro, DE and after Roy's death in 1992, she moved to Annapolis, MD and later to Stevensville, MD. She is survived by her daughter Barbara who resides in Gold Canyon, AZ, her daughter Judy and husband Tom of Greensboro, MD, and sons Robert and wife Beverly and William and wife Donna of Centreville, MD, Dickie and wife Julie of Ridgely, MD, and George and wife Grace of Mechanicsville, VA. Also surviving by 17 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 7 to 9pm, and on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 10 to 10:30am, with a Funeral Service at 10:30am. Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
