Betty Lou Sofley, 72, of Crofton, Maryland died Monday, June 3rd, 2013. She was born April 29, 1941to Norman and Elsie Blackwood. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Billy Sofley as well as her three daughters, Debbie Kessler, Sharon Higginbotham and Robin Thompson; six grandchildren, Kristen Sofley, Allyson Smith, MacKenzie Thompson, Jack Higginbotham, Ryan Higginbotham and Michael Thompson; a sister, Dorothy Cooley; a brother, Bob Blackwood and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Betty attended High Point High School prior to attending the University of Maryland. Following her college years, Betty worked as a flight attendant before becoming the wife of a military man. She spent the early years of her marriage moving from coast to coast before becoming a long time resident of Crofton where she raised her children and was an active member in the community and a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother who touched so many lives in so many ways. She was an inspiration to her family and her spirit will live with us forever.
