Frank LaTorre By: Marissa LaTorre Frank LaTorre is my grandfather. He is 74 years old and he has been working at CBS for more than half his life, 41 years! However, he retired last year in 2010. Frank LaTorre, was born in 1937 in Brooklyn, New York. Way before he worked at CBS network, in 1952 he worked at the A&P shopping market for one year. In 1953 he went to New York City community college applied arts and science to get his electronic technician degree. He was only sixteen years old when he went to college. Seven years later, in 1960, he used his college degree to become a technician in the army. While he was in army, he met a woman named Rita Sattler. Frank married her in 1962(now her name is Rita LaTorre). He worked in the White house when he was in the army in the year of 1966. Frank had stopped working at the White house and started working in the space program for NASA. He was a technical writer for some of the equipment telling how to use them from 1966-1969. The equipment he typed the instructions for was used for Apollo 11. By 1969 he had two kids, Jonathan LaTorre (my dad), and Mark LaTorre (my uncle). In 1974 his favorite trip with a president was with George H. Bush to Venice, Italy. Frank LaTorre joined a television network called CBS. He was a lighting technician/camera man for 41 years! While he worked for CBS he traveled with many presidents. He traveled on air force with Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush, and Bill Clinton. That is the interesting life (so far) for Frank LaTorre.
