Robert White

d. April 23, 2013

When talking about Bob White the first thing that comes to mind is his quick wit and sense of humor. Throughout his life, his careers and his travels, regardless of where he hung his hat, Bob could make you laugh and charm the pants of you. Tough, fair, strong-willed, persistent, a fighter. That was Bob. Bob grew up on Cape Cod and at an early age was known as a trouble maker, but in a rather irresistible way. He did a little bit of everything as a young man including being a teacher, a police officer, radio host and TV weatherman. Bob served in the Air Force, where he was stationed in Germany with the military police. He received his BS in Geography from SUNY Binghamton. Bob stayed in Binghamton and worked at IBM Endicott until IBM took him to Austin, TX in 1980. Ultimately his IBM career lasted over 25 years and included various managerial titles. Bob was also an avid train collector and photographer. Bob loved to read and in recent years enjoyed his meetings with the Paper Tigers. He loved the ocean and traveling in general. Bob and his wife of 40 years, Susan, enjoyed cruises together. In particular he loved the Alaskan cruises, the Panama Canal cruise, and Hawaii. Bob was an incredible father who was both a soccer coach and basketball coach. He always went above and beyond for his family and was acutely in tune with his family. Bob adored his grandchildren and took every opportunity to spend time with them.
