Jane Brown of Bowie died on Thursday, February 28, 2013 in Crofton. She was born Janina Pilkowicz on August 3, 1908 near Vilnius, Lithuania. In 1912 She was the daughter of Henry Leokadia (Kurkievics) Pilkowicz. In 1912, Jane, her two brothers, and mother came to New Hampshire where they joined her father who had arrived a year earlier. On November 27, 1930, she married John I. Brown (Baranowski) in Cambridge, Mass. In the early 1940's, they settled in nearby Belmont. They owned and operated a grocery store in Cambridge for many years until the mid 1950's. Jane was predeceased by her husband on May 10, 1975 and brothers, Walter in 1972, and Henry in 1987, Both of Conn. Jane continued to live in Belmont until 1994 when, because of her health, she moved to Bowie to live with her only child and son in law, Jane and Robert Naugle. Besides her daughter, she is survived by two grandchildren, Jonathan Naugle of Gaithersburg and Jeffrey Naugle of Bowie; and a great-granddaughter, Melissa Naugle of Gaithersburg. No local services are planned. She will be buried at Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, MA next to her husband.
