Mary L. Van Horn born February 26, 1918 in Dawlish, England and departed on February 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of 63 years, Robert P. Van Horn. She is survived by four children and spouses, Robert and Marcia Van Horn, Geoffrey and Jeannie Van Horn, James Van Horn, and Julie Van Horn; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Jessica. Mary worked for the Foreign Service under the direction of Winston Churchill during WWII's London Blitz as a cipher. After the war, she was assigned attaché posts in Italy, Czechoslovakia, Serbia, and Slovenia before assignment to the British Embassy in Georgetown, DC in 1949, where she met and married her husband, beginning her new life as wife and mother. A celebration of her life is being held at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 2 to 3pm. Interment will be private.
