Arthur "Art" Brunner, a resident of Bowie for more than 50 years, died peacefully on February 19, 2013 at Villa Rosa Nursing Home in Mitchellville, Maryland. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a treasured relative, and a friend to many. He is survived by his wife Marion of 61 years and three children: Susan (Alfred) Ose, Gregory (Kathleen) Brunner and Christopher (Frank Davis) Brunner, and five grandchildren: Allison, Elizabeth and Nicholas Ose; and Natalie and James Brunner. Art was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 16, 1928. The son of John Francis and Mary Winifred Brunner, he was the youngest of six children. He served in the Army in Japan shortly after WWII combat ended. After returning to Pittsburgh, he met his lifelong love, Marion Bailey, at a church social for young adults. They married in May of 1952 and shortly thereafter moved to the Bowie area. Art was member of Sacred Heart Parish in Bowie, having served on the parish council and helping with other church needs. Art was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Council #2577, where he was a Past Grand Knight and forged countless lifelong friendships. A funeral Mass and burial was held at Sacred Heart Church on February 25, 2013. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
