Vincent J. Walls, Sr., a 48 year resident of Bowie, MD and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, passed away on January 30, 2013. Vince was born on October 23, 1932 in Philadelphia PA, to Vincent and Anne Walls. Following graduation from North East Catholic High School in 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving as a Cryptologic Technician on active duty from 1954 through 1956. Upon release from active duty, Vince was employed as an agent with the Prudential and Metropolitan Life Insurance Companies until 1960, when he entered Federal Civil Service. Vince held a number of positions in the Department of the Navy, serving in his last assignment as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, Installations and Logistics, Headquarters Marine Corps. Other notable professional achievements include: graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed forces, charter member of the Federal Senior Executive Service, and recipient of the Department of the Navy Civilian Superior Service Medal. Upon retirement in 1987, Vince devoted his time to his family, his parish, and enjoyed traveling across the country. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Mary Walls (nee Collins), 5 children and their spouses: Kathleen McGinnis (John), Vincent, Jr. (Christine), Charles (Mary Lee), Kenneth (Jacqueline), Michael (Amy); 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
