Robert G. Gochnour, 42, of Edgewater, MD died at home December 31, 2012. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lucy and Clay Alderman; Uncle Paul Carey and Larry Vollmer step father. Survived by his wife, Wendy Gochnour; daughter, Fallon, mother, Stella Vollmer; and brother, Bill Gochnour (Katie and nieces Tiffany and Heather). The family will receive friends at BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 1 to 3pm, where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10am. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD. Rob was born at home on January 4, 1970, with a heart defect and was treated by Children's hospital. At seven he had successful open heart surgery. He lived in Greenbelt and enjoyed a happy childhood and made many friends for life. Rob and Clay were always together and best buddies. He also enjoyed a close relationship with his brother Bill. At an early age he showed a strong interested in carpentry and construction work that became his career. As a teenager he enjoyed music and formed a rock group named Profile winning several competitions. He played trumpet in the school band. He has always taken pride in his appearance with extra attention to his red hair! He bought his home in Edgewater and used his carpentry skills to make a beautiful home for his family which he was very proud of. Rob was a devoted family man. In May 2005, he married Wendy. Paige became his step daughter. On December 4,2007 he became the proud father of Fallon, who he loved with all of his heart. One of his favorite things to do with her as a baby was to dance cheek to cheek and sing to her. Because of his loving relationship with Clay he was able to form the same relationship with Fallon. Rob enjoyed celebrating all holidays with friends and family. It was a time for him to display his love of cooking and exceptional culinary skills, making these gatherings a treat for all. An avid Redskins fan. Rob and his dog Emerson also enjoyed a loving relationship. Rob was a loyal friend and always willing to lend a hand for those in need. Rob will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends, and will remain in our hearts forever.
