Love, Iris Marrero Iris departed this life and passed into God's care on December 22, 2012. She was born October 27, 1933 in San Juan, Puerto Rico - the daughter of Sofio Marrero and Lucia Marrero Cortez. Iris married Joseph M. Love on April 18, 1954 in the Presbyterian Church of Aquadilla, Puerto Rico, as he was then in the U.S. Air Force and stationed at Ramey AFB in Aquadilla. She accompanied him on moves to various locations, both in the U.S. and overseas (except for his tours in Korea). They moved to the current home in Bowie, Maryland in august 1967. She loved children and worked as a Day Care Worker and Teacher at the Cresthill Child Development Center in Bowie for over 23 years, retiring on May 31, 1996. Among other interests, she enjoyed gardening, walking, conversing with friends and neighborhood residents, watching baseball and football games on television, shopping and visiting Ocean City, Maryland. Iris is survived by her husband; daughters Linda, Diane and her husband Brian Waak, Karen and her husband Gerald Hanes; sons Joseph S. and wife Robin, Brian and wife Sandra; 8 grandchildren, Ashley, Jenae, Kyle, Mitchell, Stephanie, Rachel, Lindsey, and Brandon, brothers Angel Luis Marrero and wife Virginia and their children Sandra, Franklin, and Marisol and Ruben Marrero and wife Elba and son Rubencito. She also has two nieces with whom she was very close, Ceyda and Sylvia, daughters of her sister, Mary, as well as numerous other family members in both the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Iris was predeceased by her parents; brother Sofio; sister, Mary, and her husband, Juan; sister, Myrna, and her husband; and also a niece, Lillian Rios, a daughter of her sister, Mary. A Memorial Service will be held at the Christian Community Presbyterian Church, 3120 Belair Dr., Bowie, Maryland on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
